Green plum and verbena notes lead the way for now, with a flash of quinine on the finish. This is juicy, but still a bit compact overall, with the core of ample pear, quince and ginger flavors in reserve. Just wait for everything to knit together and stretch out, as the purity and length are there. Best from 2018 through 2028.

Intense color. Very aromatic bouquet of small ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry, currant). Beautiful flesh in mouth, a delicious marriage where tannins and fruits are pleasantly mixed.

Opaque ruby. Powerful black and blue fruit and candied licorice aromas are lifted and sharpened by peppery spice and smoky mineral notes. Coats the palate with concentrated, smoke-tinged blueberry, cherry liqueur and fruitcake flavors that become more energetic with air. Shows plush, seamless texture and finishes impressively long and sappy; chewy tannins build slowly and wrap around the intense dark fruit.

This inky black Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon begins with aromas of blackberry compote, dried Bing cherry, pomegranate, and hints of earthy terroir, all framed with notes of vanilla and lightly-roasted dill from aging in American oak barrels. Flavors of black raspberry and boysenberry, dark chocolate-covered cherries, dried tarragon and toasted coconut.
