Retro’s 2011 Petite Sirah Napa Valley is fabulous, especially within the context of the vintage. Plums, black cherries, lavender, savory herbs and juniper berries all take shape in the glass. The 2011 is plump, juicy and forward, with terrific overall balance. This is a terrific effort from Retro.

When he performs tastings in Cellar n°8, cellar-master Jérôme Tessendier is looking for cognacs whose aromas and flavours offer a genuinely original and varied pleasure. It is this pleasure that he wanted to share. Thus was born the Cognac

The Cellar Master has selected wines from the plots of clay-limestone soils on the Plateau de Saint-Simeux standing above the Charente Valley, in the Fins Bois cru. As well as being organic, the rounded, supple Cognac Park Fins Bois with its subtle balance between fruit and floral aromas is above.

Succulent nose, not in the least aggressive, with an attractive smell of apples. Fruity aromas of fresh apple, pear and vanilla.

Pleasant to sniff and easy to drink, the result is a product which defies the fiery, harsh and hard to drink stereotype of traditional grappas. Serve straight up as a digestif following meals, mixes with coffee or espresso, or as an accompaniment to fine cigars.

Aged at least four years in french oak barrels. Maison Rouge VSOP is a curious and engaging mixture of fruit and spice. This cognac while suitable for sipping, its citrus spice characteristics make it an ideal companion for the Sazerac and Sidecar cognac cocktails.

Full- bodied and vinous, sweetness of ripe grapes combining with spicy notes of the noble oak- wood, harmonious and enjoyably warming. Slightly smoky notes of wood, nice cocoa notes, stimulating tannins on the finish.

Ruby red in color, this Nebbiolo offers aromas of red fruit with notes of spices, white pepper and anise. On the palate, it is balanced with bright fruit. Pairs well with pizza, pastas with simple sauces, sausage, ham, charcuterie and spicy dishes.

Conundrum Rosé led us to push into new territory. We make this wine from only one variety, Valdigué, which remains largely unknown and grows only in small quantities in California. Our goal was to create a Rosé that is uniquely bright and fresh, with more character than people typically expect. Fruity but not at all sweet, with scents watermelon and fresh Wild strawberries.

It is from a parcel that the Alary’s acquired for Jean-Etienne, who is the 11th generation of a male Alary, vigneron in Cairanne, dating back to 1692. Thus they use the name 1692 on this cuvee.
