The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is a heady, explosive wine. I don't think I have ever tasted an Ovello from the Produttori with this much heft. The strong mineral and saline accents typical of this site are present, but they are matched pound for pound by notable mid-palate richness and intensity in its fruit. The 2017 is a brooding powerhouse that needs time to unwind.

"Here the discreetly wooded nose is more reserved with its array of ultra-spicy purple fruit aromas. The equally serious broad-shouldered flavors are both bigger and more powerful thanks to the excellent mid-palate density, all wrapped in a markedly firm and lingering finish that is also very clearly built-to-age. This is impressive but it's not an Ech of refinement; indeed as good as it is it's borderline rustic. Still, I was impressed by the potential."-BH

Michele Reverdito is what they call a “rising star” winemaker in Barolo. His winery is based in La Morra, a hill town that sits high above Barolo. Michele prides himself on using traditional, “old school,” methods to make his wines. These include hand-harvesting and sorting, the use of wild yeasts and recent introduction of clay amphoras for Langhe Nascetta.

Pais Salvaje blanco is a wine born from a second wild discovery within JBouchon’s Pais ‘jungle’ vines. Copper yellow in color with fruity aromas of green apple and pear. In the mouth it is very juicy and fresh, with a long finish. Enjoy with grilled fish, light sauced pasta or a fresh salad.

Sauvignon Blanc is a specialty at J. Christopher. Although not widely planted in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Sauvignon Blanc is ideal for the area’s climate, as this wine proves. Made in the clean, fresh style of France’s Loire Valley, this wine is fermented in stainless steel and does not go through malolactic fermentation. The result is a classic, highly aromatic Sauv Blanc

100% Vidiano fermented and aged on the skins in clay amphorae produced from clay dug from Nikos’ own vineyards. A clean and compelling orange wine! Starts out with a late harvest sweet front palate and then snaps dry. Would be killer with spicy Thai food.

An elegant wine, made from Gamay grapes grown from two vineyards: the Methven Vineyard in Amity and Rebecca’s Vineyard in the Umpqua Valley. The two sources result in the wine’s depth, complexity, and peppery spice, mated to brilliant raspberry fruit, licorice, and minerals. A rarity from one of Oregon’s most sought- after producers.

Located just west of the town of Montalcino, and next to some much more famous neighbors, Casanuova delle Cerbaie has been quietly producing some of the most profound wine in the region. The Rivale is a delicious, full-bodied blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Full flavors of black cherry, earth, spice, and violets.

Aromas of Mediterranean herbs and red fruit on the nose lead to great acidity and juiciness on the palate. Finish is lively and the perfect balance of freshness and rusticity.

The dramatic climate of the Highlands – located within Monterey County – allows us to create dramatic wines. Morning fog, bright sunshine and gusting winds enable longer “hang time” for the grapes, resulting in wines of intense, complex character. With fresh, bright aromas and the taste of white peach, this wine has a vibrant acidity balanced by the lush ripe flavors.

Grown from the Mas de Daumas Gassac estate vineyards in the cool mircoclimate of the Gassac Valley, the Pont de Gassac comes from the the Guibert Family's younger vines. Made principally of old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is a fantastic taste of the quality of this magnificent domaine. Lush blackberry and cassis, touches of exotic spices and smoke, and a hint of herbs.

Louis-Antoine Luyt is a champion of the “original” Chilean wine grapes, those used to make the wines of the early Spanish settlers. The combined vine ages range from 75 to 150 years for all of the grapes in this mix, mainly from granitic, clay-based soils. All done in stainless steel and only lightly filtered, this is a floral, medium-bodied, creamy-textured white.
