This 100% Malbec showcases the best and classic qualities of Mendoza. The nose comes alive with hints of mocha, blueberry, cherries, and rose petals that lead to a rich mouth feel held up by a good structure and smooth tannins. This fruit driven wine showcases boysenberry, blackberry, cocoa and cola nut flavors on the palate.

Mostly young-vine Morgon, bottled just after a winter settling (in screwcap, no less!), it is pure, unadulterated pleasure. If you’ve got a crowd and two is a crowd in this case, one bottle won’t be enough!

Donnelly Creek vineyard was planted in 1991. As the name suggests, it is planted at the confluence of the Donnelly and Anderson Creeks, on the creeks’ banks, in rocky soils, just outside of Boonville in the Anderson Valley. Its position allows it to take advantage of the marine-influenced cool temperatures at night, low lying morning fog and long, even growing days.

In addition to a distinctive terroir imprint, this vineyard yields fruit with wonderful freshness, aroma, and texture. The combination is a delicious expression of Verdelho: lightly floral, with bright citrus and tropical fruit aromas and flavors. It's fleshy, but nipped in by mineral verve and naturally fresh acidity. Enjoy on its own or with a variety of foods.

With a beautiful carmine red color, this Languedoc reveals notes of red fruits and then, spicy and peppery shades. It’s a Mediterranean wine but still fresh and thirst-quenching.

Highly thought of winemakers like Jacopo Biond Santi declassified their Brunello release in 2014 into Rosso di Montalcino. There are still the noticeable hallmarks of Le Ragnaie in this bottling: high elevation, finesse, high tones. The site quality is evident even though the power and structure may not be what you expect for a Brunello di Montalcino.

This is a superb set of wines from Brovia. For reasons I can-t quite understand Brovia remains incredibly overlooked considering the quality of the juice they put in the bottle. In recent years Brovia has been making terrific wines in an enlightened traditional style that is immensely appealing. The estate favors long fermentations.

It is made from 2014 fruit but not eligible to be labeled as such since it does not conform to normal US labeling regulations. WA-4 is very much in the Dave Phinney style of full-bodied, bold, muscular reds, performing an impressive balancing act of ripe blackcurrant with Asian five-spice and underbrush.

Domaine Lafond Roc-Epine Cotes du Rhone is a concentrated, meaty, and focused red. According to the winery, the vines--planted around 1880 after the phylloxera epidemic--are the oldest still producing in the world. This wine is a stunning value; the nose and palate really deliver with bold-yet-balanced notes of cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, raspberry, and earthy bramble

While technically a rosé, this light "reddish-white" wine is made by co-fermenting all of the allowable white and red grapes in the Jura Region. The wine is flashy and fresh offering soft spice with ripe red berries and citrus fruits. Drinking like a rosé but with mineral-forward white wine flavors on the attack and bright-dusty red wine flavors on the finish.

Based in Juliénas, the estate has a trove of old vines. This wine comes from vines averaging 65 years in age. Concentrated in both fruit and structure, it is bold with black fruits and rich tannins, with a juicy aftertaste that shows great promise.

From 15 year-old vines planted on limestone soils mixed with red clays. Grapes are harvested then sorted, crushed and vinified at low temperature in stainless steel. Aged 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
