2016 was an incredible year for Cabernet Sauvignon, creating grapes with great concentration. Invoking violets, black olive brine, sticky tannins, black plum skins, chalky earth, dry aged beef, bittersweet cocoa with a fresh, herbaceous finish. The wine was racked off of its lees at 10 months and saw a total of 16 months elevage. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. As with all Forlorn Hope wines, no new oak is utilized, and nothing was added to the must or wine.

Using 12-36 month aged Agrestic Ale as a base, aged on 1.5lbs/gal Black Currants, the beer undergoes the final maturation in their French Oak "Fruiders" for an additional four months. A convergence of supple tannic and deep purple pigments, gooseberry jam, a month-watering acidity & earthy notes elicit vinous roots.
