Oozlefinch Silent Sentry Brett Saison Ale12.99Fort Monroe, Virginia

This big ale has notes of lemon peel and peppery spice from the Saison yeast, topped with ripe mango and grassy hay character from the long aging on Brett. A carefully crafted grain bill provides a mouth-filling malt character despite the dry, crisp finish. This is everything we love about Saison, barrels, and Brett, all rolled into one.

Oozlefinch Departed Days Imperial Saison Ale12.99Fort Monroe, Virginia

Aged in chardonnay barrels with a huge mix of yeasties and beasties. Picked up this beer on a whim, and I'm glad I did. It is a well-rounded, tart and tasty imperial Saison. It's low on the funk and high in the citrus and earthy flavors (the bottle label told the truth!).

White Rooster Montage Tart Farmhouse Ale19.99Sparta, Illinois

Dark golden clear body no head. Smell has a ton of tart fruit: lime, boysenberry, peach, lemon, with some slight Brett and hay. Taste explodes on the palate with those sweet and tart fruits plus apricot, dried cherry, plantain, and apple. Feel is a little high in the carbonation, but otherwise bright, moderately tart and has a kiss of acidity.

Oak & White Upland Fruited Sour Ale14.99Bloomington, Indiana

Oak & White has zesty carbonation, with the appearance of light straw in the glass. White wine aromas dominate, tempered with hints of tart, tropical and fruity notes. Flavors of white wine continue upon tasting, with a sour beer character complimenting the tropical notes of the selected grape. Finish is dry, with petite grape notes.

Cerebral Unexpected Mutation Chardonnay Saison Ale14.99Denver, Colorado

Expect the unexpected with this one. Imagine Oaky California Chardonnay and toasted coconut notes followed swiftly by delightfully divergent tones of bright, clean acidity, lemon peel and white peach.

Cellar West Make Hay Saison Ale14.99Lafayette, Colorado

This is the perfect hot weather beer; it reminded me of a Pilsner mixed with a traditional Saison. It had peppery and funky Saison elements, but more subdued with lots of crisp Pilsner-y flavor. Make Hay took home a silver medal at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival. 8.2% ABV and layered with notes of tangerine peel & white peppercorn.

Cellar West Pride of Province Amber Saison10.99Boulder, Colorado

A very tasty amber strong Saison, funky and oak fermented, really pretty cool, like a wild Biere de Garde or something. Its malty and sturdy on the grain side of things, with the potential to be sweet eliminated by a more mature Brettiness than a lot of their others have.

There Went The Neighborhood Black Bottle Brewery Sour Saison Ale5.99Fort Collins, Colorado

Billed as a “Sour Saison Ale,”, this beer hits my personal sour preference just about perfect. Pleasant acidity, tart rather than aggressively sour, lactic rather than acetic, it’s really, really nice. Malt-wise, it’s nicely plummy, stonefruit, maybe a little dash of citrus, but also bready, rummy, raisiny.

Jolly Pumpkin Oro De Calabaza Grand Reserve Golden Ale20.99Dexter, Michigan

The taste is delicious. The beer has a strong oak presence to it. There is a good funk note along with a bitter and acidic orange hop note with a light vanilla in the finish. The tart comes off as an apricot tart. A highly complex earthen array chases the taste into a medium length finish and a brisk, briny and balsa-like aftertaste.

Anchorage Brewing Co The Tide & Its Takers Brett Beer9.99Anchorage, Alaska

Overall, this was definitely one of the better Brett beers that I've had. This was a nice, fruity, sweet, tart, and a slightly sour experience. These characteristics coupled with a nice and soft body, made this very enjoyable and easily drink-able.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Co Barrel Select Gold Sour Ale10.99Elmsford, NY

Nose is tart vinous and funky. Sour apples and pears. Some malt and a bit of horse blanket. A nice amount of oak. A white grape re-presents the grain bill with a fruity flourish. Taste is dry and tart. Like a grainy dry champagne. Sour juicy white grapes with a touch of green apple. A light oak presence from the nose. Some malt sweetness. Nicely funky.

Springdale Desert Solitaire American Wild Sour Ale12.99Farmington, Massachusetts

A Mixed Fermentation Sour Ale brewed with wheat, rye and spelt aged in oak barrels. Complex aromas of wet hay, desert apple, oak, pineapple, underripe stone fruit and a hint of barnyard. More oak in the flavour lending a nice buttery note to the beer. Apple, hay and lemon notes compliment nicely. Medium body, light carbonation and no noticeable bitter.

Logsdon The Continental Farmhouse Sour Ale21.99Hood River, Oregon

Ripe stone fruit aromas compliment a subtle spice and nutty note from the Cognac casks, followed up by the classic funky
brettanomyces of our spontaneous culture. Delightfully even-tempered, this low acid, citrus-floral beauty sings with wood resonance and finishes sour and funky with everything nicely in balance."

Pluma Negra Espadín Mezcal Joven56.99San Juan del Rio, OaxacaMaguey Espadín

Light and fresh on the nose - lime, pear and apple come forward, with subtle herbal and almond notes at the end. It has a light and zingy feel that flows between tangy citrus and briny olives that lingers long on the palate. This is beautifully approachable and perfect for people who are new to experiencing Mezcal.

Pluma Negra Tobala Mezcal Joven126.99San Juan del Rio, OaxacaMaguey Tobala

Cooked in an underground earthen oven, an animal powered tahona stone grinds the baked maguey, which is placed in pine barrels for wild yeast fermentation. Notes of chocolate and plum with hints of tobacco, nutmeg and floral aromas. Pineapple and tropical mango come through first on the palate, with herbal and cinnamon notes. Tobalá’s floral finish is light and long lasting.

Tassajara Pinot Noir 202213.99Monterey, CA100% Pinot Noir

Tart red plum aromas met with sagebrush and turned earth on the nose of this bottling. The palate shows a lot of herbal influence, with plum and red cherry adding fruit flavors.

Brunier Le Pigeoulet Blanc 201925.99Southern Rhône1/3 Roussanne, 1/3 Grenache Blanc, 1/3 Clairette

This versatile white works well with summer fare: grilled fish, roast chicken, or grilled vegetables. It feels right at home with Mediterranean herbs and the ripe tomatoes now arriving at the farmers’ market. The blend is equal parts Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Clairette. Together, they create a wine that has a complex mouth-feel that finishes with a nice refreshing acidity.

The Ale Apothecary TBFKA La Tache Wild AleBend, Oregon

This is really nice and very complex. The hop character is sparkling, citrusy and sprucey, and adds a lot to the beer. There’s a nice oak character- it’s almost like white, it doesn’t feel like the usual oak character you would get from something like this. There’s some slight malt sweetness, stone fruit, lemonheads, and a heavy and compelling acidity.

The Ale Apothecary Sahalie Wild Ale38.99Bend, Oregon

Phenomenal beer. Lots of depth and still refreshing and easy to drink. I've had a lot of Ale Apothecary beers and every time I go back to Sahalie I'm reminded just how good it is. This is an amazing flagship beer and one of their best. It really shows what's possible with the essential ingredients: malt, hops, yeast, and water.

The Ale Apothecary El Cuatro Wild Ale43.99Bend, Oregon

Very sweet/tart with a modest pucker. Strong oak... fruit and berry. Baking cherry, funk, green apple, honey, tanins, and caramel. Whiskey subtle but present and adds a nice undertone. Moderate acidity... this baby has some bite. Medium bodied... zesty carbonation. More funk, tart, and fruit to finish.

American Solera This Is Not A Scam Farmhouse Ale - Saison13.99Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tastes great, a lot of piney citric acid, filled out by a farmhouse funk, hay and grass and metallic tangerine lingering together.
Tart bite that’s just right. Slight fizz that hits in the nose. Refreshing.
All around a very nice light saison. Perfect for a warm day. Definitely not a scam!

Crooked Stave L'Brett D'Blueberry Golden Sour Ale25.99Denver, CO

The Brett is big in the smell. Tart blueberries with some perceived vanilla to my nose. Yummy tasting, Brett in unison with the tart blueberries and the oak adds some woody notes. No sweetness here. Who needs it. Good puckering mouthfeel, tasty brew overall. Expensive but worth it imho.
