The wine contains hallmarks of Pfifferling’s deftness, plus Brice and Emilie’s connection and knowledge of the salt flats that make up Nimes’ unique terroir. “Les Salines” is a rosé of old-vine Carignan, macerated for one night and pressed into old barrels. Insane.

The Brothers Ledogar are back in the building! Domaine Ledogar is the partnership of fourth-generation winemaking brothers Xavier and Mathieu. They took over the estate in the ‘90s, and converted it to biodynamic and organic practices. Black cherry and savory herbs combine for a surprisingly light on its feet fresh winter red.

Jura lovers know the “unicorn” nature of the estate wines, not only because of their rarity, but because of how incredibly well built and how purely Jura they are. “Autrement” is the estate’s Ouille-style Savagnin, topped up to express Savagnin’s crystalline purity, tangy acidity, and pure fruit. Unbelievable.

Nothing like any Pinot Noir you’ve ever drank. While the Jura is a hotbed of traditionally-nontraditional Pinot, we seldom see any from the Jura that sees whole cluster carbonic maceration. The red berry qualities of this wine are jumping out of the glass, with touches of spice and forest floor. A really beautiful carbonic sipper.

Prosecco is known for being cheap, mass-produced, hangover juice. However, there are real examples of hard-working, honest producers making extremely solid wines. Tenuta Giol, an estate founded in 1427, is one of those. The estate began its conversion to organic agriculture in the 1980s, and is currently certified and uses little to no sulfur! These bubbles are classic.

Tempting aromas of lemon custard, white flowers, macadamia, fennel root, kelp, nectarine & pear descend into flavors of prosciutto, honey, chantarelles, pie crust, white peppercorn & hints of PNW forest floor. Hints of chocolate & blood orange. Hearty.

From the estate’s finest holding, situated in the middle of the slope overlooking the Rhone, this cuvee from the famed “Cote Chatillon” lieu-dit has long been the flagship Condrieu of Domaine Gerard. The richness of the fruit is placed in balance by bright acidity, in a masterfully-controlled wine. A liveliness and notes of spice carry through the pleasing finish.

Aromas of banana cream, vanilla custard, melon, sugar cookie & thyme peppered with hints of anise entice you into the glass. The first sip reveals this isn't as sweet as the nose implies, with a balanced, mellow & velvety finish. Outrageously pleasant, enjoy flavors of tapioca pudding, fresh baked Hawaiian rolls, orange & cherry blossom, with an undercurrent of celery & umami.

Domaine Georges Lignier owns a full 2 hectares out of the 4 hectares that comprises the “Clos des Ormes”. This wine typically carries a lighter robe, deceptive perhaps because the concentration levels are high and limn the wine in high relief through its intense aromatics and persistent finish.

(Burghound 90-92 points) A restrained but softly perfumed nose combines notes of red and dark cherry, spice, plum, sandalwood and a hint of violet. There is a bit more flesh to the equally racy, intense and stony flavors that exhibit slightly better depth and persistence, at least today.

The Cep Rosé is a refreshing, crisp, bright rosé that has verve and can be enjoyed without having to pick yourself up off the lawn. Though not a fruity rosé, minor notes of white peach, unripe nectarine, and watermelon playfully interact with a Belgian beer yeast aroma. The texture is crisp with medium to light body and quite a surprisingly long, salty finish.

Vibrant and open-knit, with rose petal, raspberry, clove and other spice flavors gliding on a long, detailed finish. Drink now through 2030.
