Sparkling fruit wine made of Swedish apples from old orchards, macerated with wild Swedish blueberries and , chokeberries. Opens with a light brett character backed by heaps of blueberries and other dark berry notes. Fruity and very fresh with a crisp acidity followed by a bitterness that just leaves you wanting more. Reminiscent of a Gamay, Poulsard, or a light Pinot Noir.

The cool harvest conditions in 2019 made it possible to bottle uncommonly delicate wines. This wine captures that possibility more than any other from the vintage. It’s texture is ethereal and the wine is very aromatic. Now in bottle, it’s aromas of high-pitched spice and mountain berries are discreet and hiding, but will emerge with thoughtful aging.

Camilla Rossi Chauvenet, who took over her family's vineyards from the 1880's and converted them to organics, makes wines of patience. Working with older vines, slower natural yeasts and used French barrels her wines take their time finding themselves before she bottles. Likewise patience as the wine develops in the glass pays off with cherry jam and balsamic drizzled herbs.

2020 TAJ Pinotage is a beauty. Vibrant dark plum fruit jumps out of the glass and leads into a medium fuller palate that has beautiful darker red fruit to core and nicely integrated tannins that give good supporting structure. With some aeration this gains flesh and mid palate suppleness allowing the wine to take on a silky textural mouth feel.

Nowhere do the rules say that wine made from serious fruit has to be taken seriously. Es Okay is Mike Lucia's (of Rootdown) playful second label. And this rosé is playful! A blend of Pinot Gris from sites in Clarksburg and Grenache from Mendocino County. Fit with watermelon, sweet scarlet grape and a bit of mint. A prickly texture at the roof, slight hint of tart pineapple guava and a finish that has a little...savory sensation. Crush this wine—Es Okay!
