A wine conceived almost as a challenge, made from one of the most extensive, historic crus in the Barbaresco wine-growing area and one of the most long-lasting. Greeted with acclaim as soon as it was vinified separately for the first time in 2004.

Intense and complex, with fruity overtones conjuring up plums and blackberries, and spicy hints of vanilla and roasted hazelnuts.

2020 Oriol Artigas 'Cuvee Total' Skin Contact Rosato65.99Alella, Catalonia, Spain75% Pansa Blanca, 15% Garnatxa Negra, 10% other varieties

From all of Oriol’s usual vineyards in Alella: this was the only wine that he was able to make from his own grapes in 2020, pulling from vines of different ages, mostly on sandy granite soil. Most of the grapes were destemmed, but some Garnatxa was left whole cluster, all aged in stainless steel with 2 days of gentle skin-contact. Only 3296 bottles made.

2020 Oriol Artigas 'SOS #8 Frisach & Tuets'Alella, Catalonia, Spain85% Parellada, 15% Garnatxa Negra

Mostly Parellada from Francesc Ferré, Oriol's friend from Celler Tuets, a fantastic producer of natural wines in Catalunya. There is a small percentage (about 15%) of Garnatxa also, from Celler Frisach, hence the Frisach & Tuets label.

The lift and acidity of the Parellada are the main attractions here, giving the wine a lithe quality and contributing a very light texture.

"The 2018 Rosso di Montalcino is delicate and nuanced with a lifted display of wild strawberries, a dusting of confectioners spice and crushed stone. 2019 Veyder-Malberg 'Hochrain' Gruner VeltlinerWachau, AustriaGruner Veltliner

On the terraced slopes of the "Hochrain" in Wösendorf my Grüner Veltliner stands on deep loess. The wines here develop nutty and spicy with yellow-fruity aromas. Compared to the Veltliners from the primary rock, the "Hochrain" is a precise example of how much the soil influences the character of the wine.

2019 Veyder-Malberg 'Bruck' RieslingWachau, AustriaRiesling

Although the "Bruck" site is considered the best and warmest in Viessling, it is nevertheless one of the coolest, because it is also the highest in the Wachau. Viessling can be seen as a counterpoint to the much warmer terroir of the east of the Wachau. My Rieslings develop a unique fruitiness with spicy notes and a delicate minerality here.
