Jean-Louis describes Chapelle des Bois as the "vin de soif" in the lineup...a gulpable, thirst quencher indeed! Often the most delicate, feminine wine of the group with lift, lots of freshness and floral, fruity punch.

This is one of the top cru bourgeois properties in St-Estephe. It sits on an outcropping of gravel soil on the banks of the Gironde River immediately north of Chateau Montrose. 2010 is one of the best vintages in recent memory & a truly outstanding value. Big and rich in style, it has all of the generous black fruits and sleek, silky texture.

The aroma isrich and full of Belgian spices and hints of pear. The taste follows with additions of Belgian yeast and slight bitter hoppy undertones. An easy drinker for the ABV and very tasty.

Bracing palate entry subsumed by a moderately oaky tang. Flavors develop slowly but fully. Remarkably long finish, drying at first, but with an increasingly nuanced sweet and nutty aftertaste, haunted by the ghost of fruit and wood. The apricot meat notes come forward more as the beer warms, though this seems best served well chilled.

Grapefruit juice, zest, orange and pine. Some wheat like flavors but more biscuit malt taste. Semi dry finish. Really well balanced ipa. Nice combo of bitterness and sweetness. Another really solid brew from Breakside.

Warm buttery toffee flavors right up front that give way to dusty cocoa and bittersweet chocolate. Some dark fruits linger in the background, but this is all brown sugar/toffee/maple syrup up front. There is some coffee or dark fruity like tannic bitterness to balance the sweetness.

Very pleasant wine, fresh and elegant, which collects the grapes from younger vines average structured Friulano and Pinot Blanc. Interesting mouthfeel that has nice balance and weight.

This wine is fresh and delicate on the nose with notes of anise, fennel, citrus fruits and red currants. The palate brings forth elegant hints of grapefruit, red fruits, white flowers and a clean mineral finish.

Smell is tart, oak, lemon, melon and tangerine. Taste is similar. Starts off fruity and juicy, mid sip transitions into a very nice tart lemon flavor and ends with a dry oak finish. Feel is light and very refreshing. Overall another very good beer from Almanac.

Quite sour with the cherry coming in second and the vanilla a distant third. Mainly just big sour cherry that's not very sweet. The vanilla eventually comes in on the back end to provide some complementary sweetness. The cherry also starts to linger on the palate and both bring more character to the table than just straight lactic acid tartness.

This just absolutely explodes with flavor the second it hits your tongue. Tons of white wine, light pear and stonefruit, oak and a little bit of kiwi on the way out. Leaves this lingering warmness that's really the only trace of the abv with a great chardonnay and slight spicy oak note. Damn impressive beer.

Coffee, cocoa, vanilla, caramel malt, and then chili at the finish. The cocoa especially really carries through the entire taste experience from beginning to end. The chili is designed to mesh nicely with the alcohol heat as you just can't pick it up without the spice. Seriously, there is almost no indication this is an alcoholic beverage - until you get through half of it.

Aromas of green peppers and spices are followed by red fruit. On the palate the wine exerts flavors of crushed minerals. Medium tannins yield a light and refreshing finish.
