1.5 hectare holding in the famous Bricco di Neive vineyard, vines age 15 to 25-years-old. Here we find clcareous clay with a high percentage of sand. The wine is fermented on the skins for 18 days in stainless steel, aged 26 months in 25 hectoliter Slavonian oak casks. Dark, ripe, black berry and cherry fruits mingle with baking spices and herbs on the nose. Well-structured.

Cedric Bouchard coaxes incredible nuance and complexity out of these meticulously maintained 40 year-old Pinot Noir vines. There is no dosage and the wine spent 16 months on its lees before being recently disgorged. The parcel in Val Vilaine, is a one and a half hectare plot that makes just over a 100 cases annually. A fine choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years.

It’s juicy, polished and refined with medium to full body and compact, chalky tannins. Ripe blue fruit and dried flowers with stony minerality at the end.

The Tepeztate, a subspecies of the Marmorata Family of agave, has a very distinct, erratic leaf structure and flourishes best on the sides of steep, rocky cliffs. The Tepeztate produces beautiful quiotes at the end of life which flower a rich yellow before turning to seed. This agave offers a powerful, unique aroma dominated by floral characteristics.

The Espadín agave, known as the genetic Mother of the Blue Weber Agave, is used to produce tequila, and is also the predominant agave used in mezcal production. Unique in itself, the characteristics of this agave showcase the aromas of wet earth, a rich smokiness on the mid-palate, and a finish reminiscent of wild flowers.

...the 2022 Zinfandel Old Vines punches above its weight... nose is considerably deeper, fuller and more polished, opening with aromas of crushed plums, wild berry preserves, tobacco leaves... The palate is light- to medium-bodied, carrying through the polished quality of the nose and melds it with a subtly dusty tannin structure and bright acidity ...straightforward and easy to drink, offering generous layers of fruit, spice and floral notes.

Italy has plenty of examples of big rich red wines, but here on the other side of the Apennine Mountains from Tuscany in the higher valley of Predappio in Emilia-Romagna, Noelia Ricci has chosen to showcase the bright acidity of the Sangiovese grape. Tannin and structure take a back seat to the bright fresh cherry fruit that makes this red such a great chillable wine!

Dreaming of one day being able to produce Barolo, the Faccenda family purchased this winery in 2003. The vineyards lie just outside of Monforte, the vines are 30/40 years old, the soil of limestone composition. Guidobono’s wines are textbook interpretations of the indigenous grapes of the Langhe. The Nebbiolo is traditional yet approachable, a great pairing with rich foods!
