Viotti is practicing organic, harvests by hand, utilizes spontaneous fermentation, adds low levels of sulphur, and does not fine or filter. After a soft pressing, it ferments in steel vats at a controlled temperature and remains there until the end of the fermentation. Fruity, floral and spicy, with a delicate hint of musk.

From the humble hills of Monferrato, Viotti makes humble wine with an unexpected bold side. This 2020 Barbera is darker fruited with smoky tones and a classic fresh cherry finish. Put a rich pasta or a braised meat dish on the menu and grab a bottle!

It's less common to see the dry style of Brachetto, but slowly this highly aromatic red varietal is making a comeback. Brachetto is often used for slightly sweet and sparkling wines due to its natural fruity and floral character. However, as a dry red it makes for a spectacular experience. Dark blackberry, lavender, rose, bright acidity with structured tannins on the finish.

Notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak are intermingled with more subtle flavors of mint and spice. The barrel notes are beautiful, well pronounced and the backbone of this pour. The initial tasting notes are well rounded and pleasant with some heat from the alcohol on the backend, which at barrel proof is expected.

This is delicious! Spicy on the tongue with a rich mouthfeel. I wouldn't have noticed the change in mashbill on this one if I hadn't read about it. This really isn't too surprising since by ten years in the barrel, you'll be getting a lot more barrel influence taking over. This gets a heart. I might just be in love.
