The secret behind the structure of the Alain Michaud Brouilly is that the average age of his vines is over sixty years. This lends a density and richness not normally associated with Cru Beaujolais. Full of dark berry fruit and floral aromatics, yet with an underlying sanguine quality that enables the wine to pair with slightly richer cuisine than one might think.

This 2012 vintage of Monopole Soul Syrah is exclusively sourced from the ripe fruit of the grapes from KNW’s Nagyfai and Nyilasmár Monopole Terroirs. The Nyilasmár vineyard has thin, stony, and tuff based soil, facing south, giving the wine spice and body. This wine shows characters of ripe black cherry and earthy notes.

This wine from El Cepillo presents a purple color with red ruby tones. The nose offers elegant aromas of spices, and fresh herbs as thyme and rosemary, red berries, cassis and raspberries, with layers of cedar. The mouthfeel is full and rich with cassis, raspberries flavors and notes of black pepper and oregano . The finish is bright and fresh with finely grained tannins.

A wine made to honor Nicolas Catena's father, Domingo Vicente. Intense nose with traces of ripe, sweet plum and blackberry laced with spice fragances. Barrel aging provides further complexity with delicate oak and vanilla flavors. This unctuous and jammy wine is ideal with honey glazed pork, grilled sirloin steak with orange sauce and lamb tagine recipes.

This is plush and tasty, with lots of fresh, ripe fruit flavors verging on sweet, but it also has great acidity and appetizing tannins to rein in all that flavor and achieve balance. The flavors resemble raspberry, ripe red cherry and a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s medium to full bodied, dry and finishes with a nice tartness."

This Carignane, produced from old vines grown in the heart of inland Mendocino County, balaces a fruity foreground with a complex savory character and bright acidity. Primary fruit aromas of black raspberries and ripe blueberries take center stage, with white pepper, green cardamom, thyme, raspberry leaf and rose aromas providing complexity.

Estate grown, produced, and bottled one mile off Silverado Trail, east of Yountville on the south end of the Stag’s Leap Range. East and west facing hilltops with white volcanic ash soils in a micro-climate a few degrees cooler than the valley floor.

The 2015 Moulin-a-Vent Vieilles Vignes has an outgoing creme de cassis and blueberry bouquet augmented by orange blossom aromas. The palate is ripe and fleshy on the entry with sweet black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, quite saline towards the second half with commendable definition and structure on the finish. This is a very well crafted and delicious Moulin-a-Vent.

The result is wine with new world purity and old-world soul. The wine has a rich deep cherry, black fruit and fresh berry forward taste with deep wonderful structure and color. Luscious plum, cinnamon, wild strawberries with a ruddy cherry sweetness fill up this extra voluptuous and sultry Chianti Classico. Elegant and lengthy in the finish. Drink through 2018

A really phenomenal find-- this Sauvignon Blanc has the concentration and pristine fruit found in warmer new world climates with a hint of the Atlantic ocean you might want from Bordeaux. Refreshing and forward, the deep grapefruit and herbaceous notes will be perfect for meaty white fish, citrus-driven salads and chalky goat cheese.

The nose on this very smooth one cup is a balance of rice and mineral tones. Talk about an easy sake to quaff! This brew is very smooth, very clean, and very gone! There is a velvety nature to the fluid with hints of nougat and sweet rice but has an over all dry appearance. This cup has an incredibly quick finish with no tail whatsoever, entirely too easy to drink!
