This historic estate, situated in the hills just south of Aix-en-Provence, has been in the hands of the Rougier family for two centuries and holds a virtual monopoly on the appellation of Palette. Those of you who know Simone realize that the red, a tenacious but ultimately elegant wine, is an equal, rather than dominant, partner to the winery's striking rose and white.

Made mainly from grape varieties typical of the region. This wine is garnet red in colour, with an intense aroma of red fruits, well-balanced and with a good freshness.

Cannonau is one of Sardegna’s leading red varietals, and it is noted for being potent, rustic, and packed with resveratrol, the substance that some researchers say can improve heart health. We think that’s all fine and dandy, but we didn’t buy this wine because we thought it would make us live longer. We bought it because it’s delicious and full of heart, soul, and character.

This wine is grown almost equidistant between the Rhône Valley to the south and Beaujolais to the north. There is no carbonic maceration here so the fruit is darker, more deep and brambly. There is also a definitive black pepper note on the finish, bringing some Rhône spice to the bright Gamay grape.

Nice pale orange/peach color, nuanced lemony taste with the peaches and apricots providing a round fruitiness. Very enjoyable sour ale. Light to medium body.

Behold Bretta Rosé! A low-alcohol Berliner Weisse style ale, acidified and matured in French oak puncheons for 6 months, is the foundation for this gem. Add 1000 lbs. of fresh raspberries, allow a secondary wild fermentation for 4 more months and voila (!)

Made entirely from a direct pressing of Mourvedre, the Belier Rosé is in every way the elder sibling to the Prestige Rosé. Despite its pale color, this is a wine brimming with stone fruit flavors, minerality and a hint of garrigue. Like many of the wines from Bandol – the inspiration for this cuvée – the Tête de Belier can age well in bottle, but who would want to wait?

The Viognier and Vermentino of 2014 displayed wonderful aromatic qualities and fragrance and the Chardonnay had a rich oily texture and a floral nose. This vintage is concentrated with good acidity – full of herbs with white fruits of pears and white peaches on the nose and palate. This is a crisp, mineral well-structured wine that shows complexity and verve.

The entry-level red Burgundy comes from vineyards in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The vines range in age from 56 to 88 years and are farmed sustainably. The major part (80%) of this wine is matured in barriques (15% of which is new oak) and the remainder is done in stainless steel. This maintains a pure style with bright fruit and a fine texture.

Fresh and bright aromas of strawberry and flowers follow through to a medium body, fine and juicy tannins, and a savory finish. A real beauty from environmentally sustainable grapes.
