Its unctuousness, minerality, subtlety and length all reunite to provide a handsome well-balanced wine.

In this wine, hints of aged balsamic and crushed minerals lend depth to sunny blackberry and plum flavors. It’s a rich, concentrated wine with a bold, voluminous mouthfeel that’s freshened by a tang of salt and chalky, penetrating tannins. It should be at peak now through 2035.

Verdicchio is seeing a renaissance due to a new rockstar generation of winemakers such as Leopardo Felici, son of estate namesake Andrea, who was named “2020 Winemaker of the Year'' by Italian wine guide publisher Gambero Rosso. The wine displays aromas and flavors of green apple, green melon, lime peel, and green herbs, along with nectarine, chamomile, chalk, and wet rocks.

A much more restrained nose reluctantly offers up its array of exceptionally floral-infused aromas that include those of acacia, lilac and rose petal along with hints of Granny Smith apples and lemongrass. There is outstanding volume and power to the relatively refined larger-scaled flavors that are much, much more mineral-driven on the youthfully austere, serious and compact.

This newly released wine will mellow with some bottle age but is drinking beautifully right now in its youthful exuberance. With its medium body, moderate alcohol, smooth tannins, and well-integrated oak, the fruit is the star here. Notes of red and black cherry, raspberry, and touches of cinnamon and orange rind combine in a delicious, refreshing Pinot Noir that shows depth.

Deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with intense scents of preserved plums, kirsch, chocolate box and menthol with hints of woodsmoke and Indian spices. Full-bodied, rich and voluptuously fruited in the mouth, the palate has a velvety texture and plenty of red fruit sparks of freshness, finishing spicy.

The nose is incredibly warm and cozy, and the dram just screams autumn. It starts with seafoam toffee and hot butterscotch sauce. The grain comes through with cinnamon reminiscent of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls. The mouthfeel is velvety with clove and cinnamon slowly heating up the tongue. Brown sugar gives sweetness to the palate, and cereal adds a chewiness.
