This is one of the rarest wines in the world. Coming from a tiny area near the ocean outside of Lisboa, Colares has only a few acres of vines remaining. They grow a grape called Ramisco, which has the acidity of Burgundy and the tannin of Barolo, making it the perfect red to age. Even at 20+ years old, this still has amazing aromatics and vibrancy. Christmann is one of the most renowned growers in the Pfalz. With his biodynamic operation, his wines have tremendous purity and finesse. Classic Pfalz-style, there is a wonderful energy and richness to the wine. Steely citrus fruit that is both intense and fine.

I just love this classic Loire Valley Cab Franc with its cool, dark fruit, savory earthy herb notes and great structure. It’s a perfect fall wine, mid weight in body, and a wine that brings back great memories of French bistro lunches with all the classic fare – magret de canard, steak and frites, squab and so much more pairing with this French country red.

From Bellet, a tiny appellation that produces some truly amazing powerful wines. This is made from a rare grape called Folle noire.

Very aromatic with notes of blackcurrant and blueberry. Subtle oak that stays in balance with a long tannic finish.

Reticent apricot nose, with considerable purity of fruit. Fresh attack – lean and sleek – with vibrant apricot and citrus fruit; taut and intense. A wine with pungency and structure, and an almost Burgundian persistence of flavour. Harmonious, textured and long.

This wine is made from a small parcel of 21-year-old Aligoté vines from the village of Chitry-le-Fort. The grapes are fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and older oak barrels. The resulting wine is fine and delicate yet with a richness of texture, with aromas and flavors of orange blossom, hay and lemon meringue with a touch of butter and nuts on the finish.

This wine is rich & dark fruited with spicy notes. This is a great example of what Colorado wine can be. All of the grapes are grown in the high desert of Colorado with its sandy soil, sunny days and cool nights.

The Miraflors Rosé is sourced from old vines of Grenache Gris and Noir, some nearing 80 years old, planted near the Mediterranean. Added to this is some Mourvedre that Jean-Marc planted here about 15 years ago. This a direct press rosé with the color coming from the skins of the pink Grenache Gris berries, and naturally, from the much darker Mourvedre and Grenache Noir. It is aged in tank for 4 months before bottling.

Red luminescent color with warm glows. Has a strong aroma of berries and sweets. Very young and fresh in the mouth, well balanced with its acidity, rich in floral nuances and spices.

There is a lot of history packed into this small, cool climate region about 45 minutes east of Melbourne, although Mac thinks we’ve taken too much for granted with the boom in technologically advanced winemaking and not enough attention is paid to the uniqueness of well farmed sites. This wine has a light cherry color, with a slight fizz that enhances the fruity aromas. In the mouth, it presents fresh, keen and captivating acidity, light semi-sweet flavor, resulting in a pleasant and very versatile vine.
