A slightly riper nose is comprised by aromas of various white orchard fruit that are laced with hints of rose petal, quinine and a hint of sea shore character. The exceptionally rich, even opulent flavors are both seductive and generously proportioned yet tighten up nicely on the clean, dry and markedly saline-suffused finish. Good stuff that should drink well young as well.

There are very few wineries in Volnay as important and proven as Lafarge. Stylistically, these wines typically require age but the 2016's have enough fruit to allow early enjoyment. The nose is enchanting with beautiful spice notes, leading to a body of pure cherry fruit.

A ripe and earthy yet quite pretty nose features notes of both red and dark berry fruit along with a hint of the sauvage. There is good concentration and plenty of vibrancy to the delicious and solidly concentrated flavors that culminate in a round and complex finish that delivers excellent length for its level with only a touch of rusticity.

The care that they take is shown in the very fine quality of the Brut Comte – tasting more like a lesser, true champagne than a sparkling wine from Burgundy. Entirely hand-harvested. Whole clusters are gently pressed. Following natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, a second fermentation is done in bottle to produce CO2; méthode champenoise. Aged 24 months on hand-riddled.

Fragrant and refined, this has classic Nebbiolo aromas of woodland berry, rose petal, tilled soil and a balsamic note of eucalyptus. It's vibrant, elegant and balanced, boasting juicy cherry, crushed strawberry, white pepper and a hint of licorice framed in bright acidity and taut, polished tannins.

During Patrick Cappiello's 1st vintage working with Pax Mahle on Monte Rio Cellars in 2016 he had the opportunity to choose his favorite barrels from Pax’s stable of hillside vineyards in Sonoma. Together they crafted a wine that represented not only their mutual deep passion for Syrah but the characteristics from California wines of yesteryear. Dark fruit, smoky meats and dusty earthy notes jump from the glass.

Of the two Santenay chardonnays, this is the more generous, and it’s all based in the soil. “Les Hates” is a lieu dit in the mid-slope of the Côte, sandwiched between the Premier Cru sites of Beaurepaire (which is just beneath “Sous la Roche”) and the more famous 1er Cru Santenay sites of Passetemps, Beauregard, Clos des Mouches and Clos Faubard.

Interesting blend as it's half and half Syrah/Grenache. It has a deep, dense, gamey style as well as a big, rich, full-bodied profile on the palate. This deeply colored effort shows more and more saddle leather and pepper with time in the glass and is a beautiful effort that has one foot in the Northern Rhône and one in the Southern Rhône.

A traditional approach and assemblage for this magnificent soil. Complex and structured, this Gigondas shows a wonderful balance, pure elegance.

Ferdinando Principiano is one of the new crop of exciting young winegrowers to farm Piedmont. From a 3.5ha vineyard in the Boscareto Valley of Serralunga d'Alba the wine is fermented on indigenous yeast & crushed without addition of SO2. There are beautiful aromas of red fruit and deep spice. Silky tannins frame raspberry, rosemary and tarry notes that linger on the palate.

Deep violet in color, the wine explodes out of the glass with an extremely intense and heady bouquet of exotic Eastern flowers and wild strawberries and pomegranate. Once past the intriguing nose, the palate features wild berry compote, hints of roses, violets and geranium, a note of pink peppercorn and finishes very fresh with limited tannins. An utterly unique experience.

Considered by many in France to not only the best rosé there is from Corsica, but the best all of France has to offer. A biodynamic, orange-zesty, multifaceted masterpiece from the most ancient growing region on the island. Fine and delicate nose, small red fruits and spices.
