Fresh raspberry and cherry on the fragrant nose. Fleshy and deep for the vintage, offering juicy red fruit and floral pastille flavors plus hints of vanilla and coconut. Bright and incisive on the gently tannic finish.

On a high, windswept granitic plateau near Monte Grossu (east of Calvi) known as E Prove, Michel Raoust vinifies some of the best wines from Corsica at low prices. Extreme diurnal temperature variation along with the influence of wind seems to create pronounced phenolics and sprightly acid retention. Supple, silken in texture, buoyant and infectiously bright, this brims with fresh strawberry and red raspberry, infused with rose hip, mint and red licorice. The persistent finish suggests horehound and licorice, yet is not as confectionary as that might suggest, the sweet fruit remaining refreshingly juicy...

Hints of smoke frame this very traditional, authentic Pinot made in time-honoured Austrian fashion. The balance and freshness of red fruit is borne in a very graceful structure and just cries out for food. Light bodied but with lovely depth.

This Chablis are fresh and fruity (white fruits, such as peaches and pears, with some citrus notes), leaving already shows a beautiful minerality. Pleasant as an aperitif, they can marry beautifully with oysters, shellfish, simply grilled fish, but also with Burgundian recipes like marbled ham.

Pale straw. High toned nose of citrus and white flowers. Palate seems a little woody at first then peach fruit and good acidity. Just a little more mineral with medium length. Absolutely amazing considering the bottle age of this wine.

An elegant crimson red wine with subtle black tea and tobacco aromas on the nose. Delicate and very velvety on the palate, a rounded finish, very flattering and elegant.

The excellent terroir produces robust and soft fruited wines with concentration and balance. Argadens is one of the best Bordeaux Supérieur around, with lots of concentrated fruit and an attractive, supple balance. Not surprisingly, it gets consistently high marks in tastings and competitions.

Dark, sweeping and totally voluptuous in the glass, the Cedarman offers compelling depth in its dark red and bluish fruits, new leather, menthol and spices, along with a host of savory notes that develop on the finish.

La Dominode has been produced since 1979 and it has undoubtedly the most consistent vines of the Bruno Clair's domaine- always low yields and beautiful maturity of the grapes. The quality and the age of the vines contribute to this consistency. It is a wine that demands a few years of ageing. The old vines produce a rich and powerful wine that is not common in the Côte de Beaune.

This is huge, brawny Zin, given some parameters through its 15 months in oak, the vast majority of which was French and new. Behind the power lies a slight elegance, with a taste of tar and bittersweet chocolate that lingers on. 94 Pts W&S

Intense and concentrated blackberry flavors rise above thick
tannins in this full-bodied wine. Aromas suggest boysenberry,
smoke and clove, while the flavors taste more like blackberry
jam.

The 2014 Prisoner has a deep ruby black color; a blast of berries in the aromas, yet the fruit is clean and fresh, bright, big and lasting; full bodied, thick rich and very slight port-like note shows up; heavy, with lots of sweet tannins; big dense in the aftertaste Plump and jammy, with a solid core of structure.

Powerful and explosive in the glass, the 2013 boasts tons of inky blue/purplish fruit, mocha, spices, new leather, lavender and licorice. Readers will have to give the Lytton Springs at least a few years to shed some baby fat, but it is nearly impossible to resist, even at this early stage. Once again, the team at Ridge has produced an absolutely compelling Lytton Springs.
