Brilliant ruby. Wild, highly perfumed aromas of dried red fruits, cured meat, violet and woodsmoke, with a minerally nuance adding vivacity. Smoky and concentrated on the palate, offering bitter cherry and licorice flavors and a touch of gaminess. Chewy tannins build slowly on the finish, with the cherry and smoke notes echoing emphatically. In an old-school style.

The 2013 growing season in Oregon's Northern Willamette Valley was warm and relatively even. Picking began in early September under clear skies, and after a surprise burst of weather, optimal conditions returned for the last few days of picking. The result is an interesting marriage of cooler and warmer year characteristics, making 2013 a unique, balanced and exciting vintage.

Garnet red in colour. The aromatic profile is a clean, mineral driven mix of dusty red berries and pure Pinot fruit offering incredible structural balance with just enough tannins and vibrant acidity with the carbonic action amplifying
the fruit: ripe strawberry, red cherry, candied raspberry and rose petals swirl together in a happy cloud over a backbone of wet forest floor notes on the finish.

The wine is a deep red color with garnet tints. There are black fruit aromas with a touch of oak from barrel aging. In the mouth, the wine is supple, supported by gentle, round tannins and is ageable for up to 6 years. It goes well with red and white meats, holiday fare and, of course, cheese.

A restrained nose speaks of brioche, green apple, pear and a hint of lemon rind. In much the same fashion as the Rosé the supporting mousse is relatively soft though quite fine and is in keeping with the understated, cool and pure finish that offers excellent complexity on the agreeably dry but not austere finish where the yeast component is quite pronounced. This is lovely.
