The new wine of the set is the 2021 David + Veronica. It’s a blend of 70% Pinot Blanc from Twelve Oaks and 30% Chardonnay from a warmer site in Yamhill. The goal was to make a wine that still had the brightness and vivacity we’re after, but that was delicious right now.

If any wine we make has a cult following, it’s this one. It’s rare for a winery to devote the kind of attention and care goes into this Pinot Blanc. This isn’t immodesty—the reality is that most other producers see it as a “cash flow” grape and bottle it early and simple. This landmark Pinot Blanc, Jasmine, saline, rich, delicate.

Made in the “col fondo” style, like the oldest-school Prosecco— which is to say, it’s refermented in the bottle for fizz, but not disgorged (so slightly cloudy if it doesn’t stand upright for a few days, aka “bottle-conditioned” for all you beer geeks).

Rustic but refined. a winner for pizza, pasta and seafood, not mimosas.

This is a classic, fresh crisp Dolcetto. Stainless steel aged to allow the wine to settle and come into balance, but maintain its fruit, acidity and freshness. Bright cherry and cranberry fruit with balancing acidity and soft round tannins- this screams for a pizza alla funghi! Very limited production from a single vineyard in Barbaresco. Get two (or more) while they last.

This comes from 25+ year old vines in a vineyard planted on limestone and clay soils in the town of Tonnerre (10 miles from Chablis). All the grapes are hand-harvested, and it is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks before undergoing secondary fermentation and then spends 9 months on the lees. Bright, zesty, mineral driven bubbles!

Raffault is known for making *the* benchmark expression of terroir in Chinon. Olga's daughter Sylvie now runs production, adhering to traditional methods, using saignée method (bleeding the juice for the rosé from the ferment for the red wine that will be made later). This results in deeper color and concentration of flavor, highlighting the earth-driven terroir and finer fruit notes of the Cab Franc. Look for hints of papaya, red berries, crushed herbs and granite minerality on a clean, refreshing cantaloupe finish.

On the nose there’s lemon-lime, orange peel, strawberry, and a hint of cherry blossom. It’s medium bodied and bright and zippy and acidic with soft tannins adding some grip. There are flavors of lemon-lime, strawberry, and wet stone; finished with mouth-watering acidity just begging you to take another sip.

Rostaing's flagship red is a terrific expression of the Côte-Rôtie, rivaling some of the region's best. Highly perfumed aromas of ripe dark berries, cherry, olive and pungent flowers are sharpened by a suggestion of black pepper. The palate offers concentrated classic flavors of black fruit, violet flowers, and spices, structured with smooth tannins and a tenacious finish.

A wine inspired by the "Mallsoft" genre of music with a palate of cantaloupe, papaya, guava, dried flowers. Chardonnay adds peachiness, Gewürz adds the tropical notes, and Counoise adds the salty notes.

Affordable, crushable liter from the Guibert family, now under the wing of the second generation. They work with a neighboring cooperative to produce affordable wines under the label Moulin de Gassac. Dry and fresh; red currant, red berries, extended mineral finish. Would drink nicely with simple grilled vegetables, white pizza, or green curry.

Portuguese wines are finally getting a seat at the international wine table. Gone are the days of over extracted grapes and high alcohol wines. “Vinhos Aparte” is a new winery doing things in a TOTALLY DIFFERENT way. Fresh, light and fun.
