The Nebbiolos of Valtellina in northern Lombardia are less well known than their cousins in Barolo and consequently can offer some spectacular values. This micro estate in Sassella is a perfect example. Organic farming, small production and hand-harvesting yield a wine of supreme delicacy and secret power. It shows notes of wild strawberry, dried cherry, black tea and leather.
