In the steep-hilled valleys of Liguria running down to the sea are some of the oldest grape vines in the whole country. Some of these gnarled old vines were planted near the end of the 1800's; the youngest vines are over 80 years old. Giovanna Maccario vinifies these treasured grapes simply for a wine with acid and tannin and bright black cherry. Pair with homemade garden pesto
