Burgundy by the sea is what Daniel Afonso is creating with his wines grown on the clay and limestone soils in the Atlantic influenced Colares region just NW of Lisbon. This unique local Malvasia is fermented and aged in used Burgundy barrels which softens the racy acidity and salinity. A slight waxy texture is cut through with flint, oystershell and tart passionfruit.
