The year was marked by an early budbreak (early April) and by warm spring weather with intense rainfall over the second half of May. June and July were hot and sunny, while August was cool and wet. A dry September with considerable night-day temperature swing created the conditions for excellent ripening and the making of top-quality, rich and elegant wines.
