On the attack and through the mid-palate the Castelão’s broadness and sweetness comes into play – fleshy plum, dried fig and sweet raspberry fruit is layered with milk chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon and darker clove and earth notes. The Baga asserts itself going through. An austere smoky mineral-sluiced finish has a firm (but ripe) backbone of tannin.
