In the southern Catalan region of Terra Alta, a "Fou" is a ravine. Those geographical features are characteristic of the region. That's the origin of the Celler La Fou winery's name. The interesting Lafou Els Amelers is made solely from a grape variety which is also highly characteristic of that region, namely White Grenache.
