El Rey Zapoteco Espadin is made from the family’s estate grown “capon”, fully mature, Espadin agaves. Cut by hand then cooked in a specially made oven, the agave is then milled with a horse driven tahona and distilled twice in copper stills. This approachable, versatile mezcal has a nice floral nose, some minerality, pepper spice, and a clean, lightly smoky finish.

Armand made his first vintage in 2013 with the help of consulting oenologist Ludovic Pierrot who had spent eight years working with Anne-Claude Leflaive at Domaine Leflaive.
