Magnificent Grower Champagne from a husband and wife team of Didier Bertrand and Chantal Delespierre. Using all three of the main Champagne varieties, fruit for this comes from all the Premier Cru villages they work with. Most of the wine comes from 2017 with the other 40% coming from other vintages. Their wine ages for a minimum four years on its lees before it’s released.

Fresh nose of white flowers, salty sea breeze, pear, lemon zest with oyster shell minerality and mouthwatering acidity. The Melon hails from an 1800 ft elevation site planted in 1985 on south facing decomposed granite and limestone soils of the Chalone appellation.

The wild and rustic kin of the famed Nebbiolo of Piedmont. Planted in 1994 and organically farmed by the Siletto family in San Benito. Fermented whole cluster in concrete lending a bright and tart strawberry core with tobacco and tea spice. If Graillot made Freisa in Crozes-Hermitage, it would taste like this!

This Montepulciano is a cherry-bomb explosion. The juice is also pleasingly soft and supple; the product of fruit from 40 year old vines in Cancelli. Everything takes place in stainless steel, using a reduct winemaking method that stops the wine from having too much contact with the air, keeping that varietal fruit pure and direct. It's brighter & fresher with boundless energy.

A pure representation of the coastal terroir in Monterey County. The marine climate and terroir create wine with bright acidity, vibrant fruit and medium weight and texture. Fermented on native yeast, mostly de-stemmed but with about 15% whole cluster. Universally hailed as one of the great values in California Pinot Noir.

Faint hints of cherries, cinnamon and vanilla underneath. Nice full-bodied mouth feel that coats your tongue. Notes of caramel, toasted nuts and cinnamon provide a wonderfully flavored sip. Deeper hints of allspice, dark fruit and a touch of molasses round it out.

This wine presents an intense and persistent fragrance. Complex fruity notes harmoniously blend with lightly toasted notes over a supple, full-bodied palate. The result is a remarkable wine with high acidity and a great flavor. A hint of almonds provide the characteristic finish.

Aromas of darkskinned berry, violet and dark spice mingle with balsamic notes of camphor. Elegantly structured, the linear palate reveals mature Morello cherry, licorice and a hint of espresso framed in firm, fine-grained tannins.

Plum and berry aromas are intense, which is fair given that this is a young blend of Malbec and Syrah. A tight, juicy palate is fueled by bold acidity, while this tastes of red berry fruits, plum, currant and spice. Overall this is tasty and legit, with muscle. Drink through 2025. MICHAEL SCHACHNER

This wine is perfect with meat in sauce or venison.

Aromas of corn silk, candy corn, vanilla and clarified butter are followed by creamy-feeling fruit flavors with plentiful baking spice accents. It’s a spot on example of the variety at a great price.
