Luèt means 'little wolf' in the Piemontese dialect and this single vineyard, biodynamic Arneis from 20+ year old vines in the hills of Roero lives up to the name. It has a lot of power and creaminess hiding behind brisk acidity and minerality. Ancient seafloor soils lend a hint of salinity to the primary notes of fresh pear, melon and passion fruit with gently grassy elements. The palate is supple and even with gently tangy acidity holding fresh lime and passion-fruit flavors.

Medium to full-bodied, has the sunny, sexy style of the vintage, yet also builds nicely on the palate, with ripe yet present tannis. Immediately a sense of darker fruit in this vintage. Very long and focused palate. The grenache is singing here. Fresh, vibrant and zesty, with notes of roses, tea, raspberries and blood oranges.

Vincent Paris, whose first vintage was 1997, is as shy as his wines are bold. In his early 30's, he has retro sideburns, but not much else about this appellation's established star is "retro". Vincent Paris has moved into the upper echelon of growers in France's Northern Rhône Valley. His Crozes-Hermitage has all the hallmarks of delicious and aromatically vibrant Syrah.
