This debuts a series of releases of a group of bourbon barrels laid down in the fall of 2015 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Each subsequent year, 150 barrels aged one year more will be released, culminating in a 12-year-old bourbon to be released in 2027. This will be a fun and tasty collector's item. This 6-year-old version has a nose of honey, caramel and orange, with leather and pepper on the palate.

Laws named this in honor of one of the world's first cultivated grains, Hordeum (aka wild barley grass). It's a little funky on the nose, with mushroom and leather notes prominent, followed by toasty cereal grain aromas. The palate is husky and heavy with lumberyard and barrel char notes, with an undercurrent of beef jerky. Fans of single malts will know what to expect here.

It is one to enjoy on its own or with light dishes, cured meats and cheeses.

The heirloom varietal of wheat used here produces a soft and floral whiskey with a bright clean finish. Aromas of apple orchard and orange blossoms appear on the nose with notes of honey and marmalade. Toasted notes of cereal grains and a presence of nuttiness comes through on the initial attack. The mid-palate finishes cleanly with notes of burnt brown sugar and vanilla spice.

Graupert means "tangled" or "wild", a characteristic of these particular vines grown at Meinklang farm. These vines feature smaller grapes and thicker skins. Such grapes are very aromatic and, when vinified, produce wines of darker color. Graupert Pinot Gris is a skin contact wine, hence the rose-golden yellow color, honey, and dried apricot on the nose. Delicious, interesting, and a versatile wine for food pairing.

The 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Faconnières, blended with 70% whole-bunch fruit, aromatics of mineral-infused black fruit, crushed rose petals and hints of dried quince. Generosity from Morey-Saint-Denis. The palate is medium-bodied with fine but firm tannin, with blackberry and traces of tobacco. Impressively firm grip, density, and weight in one punch. Lovely.

It is a tightly wound, tertiary/sous-bois inspired bouquet with black rather than red fruit, the whole bunch imparting freshness and complexity. The palate is medium-bodied; grippy tannin, good density but still fresh and vital. The stemmed texture, but luck after about 80% of this site was destroyed by hail this year, this is a poised effort by Bouley. Drink now.

The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and integrated acidity. Drinkable and pleasant.
