Bright nose of ripe apple, peach with biscuit notes. Wonderful concentration of stone fruits with citrus like acidity and good phenolic tension. Trademark elegance and restraint with an extra dimension of creaminess through the finish. 70% of the grapes were whole bunch pressed, and the component fermented naturally in French oak casks. 30% of the grapes were destemmed.

a very inviting nose of green apple, honeysuckle, lemon and lime and it only gets better from there. Tasting the wine reveals just a slight amount of fizz along with tons of tart apple, melon and grapefruit with a touch of honeyed sweetness. The wine is vibrant and rich in the mouth with great acidity and some nice salty minerality that leads into the long finish.

Complexity and longevity are the name of the game here. This shows a restrained nose of melon, smoke, nuts and a little buttery oak. The palate is really where it's at, weaving those same flavors seamlessly together. With a chalky texture and a good lick of acidity, everything is in balance here, setting this wine up for plenty of years of life. Drink now–2025.

Sourced from southern Oregon, this shows amped-up fruit and gentle acidity, resulting in very tasty, almost-tropical flavors. Barrel fermented using indigenous yeasts and aged in a mix of stainless steel and neutral wood, it delivers lush melon and banana flavors, with a creamy yet lively mouthfeel.

This Santa Cruz Mountains-based winery has been making a value-driven Edna Valley Chardonnay since 1985, and this one does not disappoint, Pungent aromas of lemon oil and orange pith are rounded by seared white peach, crushed sand and smoke on the nose, while the zesty palate delivers more stone fruit, bright lemon, toasty oak and solid tannic tension.

Altaroses is Joan d’Anguera’s “village” Garnatxa made from younger vines (10-35 years old) sourced from 9 hectares of vineyards surrounding their cellars in Darmós. As with all the wines made at the cellar, it is fermented with whole clusters and indigenous yeasts, aged in neutral barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered with only a tiny amount of SO2.

Black fruit, iodine, tar and a floral display of violets and white flowers frame this exotic Syrah. The palate weight is huge but lifted by the cool breezes that keep the acidity naturally high in this coastal vineyard. Iodine and salt air components ground the wine in coastal California, but the leather, tar and violets hint at a different landscape across the Atlantic.

Sourced from the Quail Run Vineyard, this Valdigue is whole cluster fermented and aged in concrete. Deep viscous black with impenetrable edges, this wine smells like blackberries rolled in black pepper. Energetic and lively in the mouth, this wine has fine grain tannins but it is more about fruit and spice.

Insane value from true Grenache master, Lafage. This has the perfect balance of both body and oak. Further, it has an aged quality and softness that is rare for such a luscious and powerful wine. La Narassa is sourced from the famed black schist soils of the Agly valley in the northern Roussillon near the village of Maury. It is made in a semi-ripasso style by harvesting late.

Notes of chocolate covered cherries and plums followed by a hint of toast and spice. The wine has a silky and pleasant texture while packing a lengthy and powerful punch!

Michel Colin (nephew of the great Georges Deléger) is semi retired and only makes three wines. Lucky for us, we were able to find a few bottles of his Grand Cru wine. This is serious stuff from a true master. Only a handful ever come to the USA, let alone present themselves to be sold retail. Not cheap, but also priceless. - Mason B, Joy Team
