The 2015 season began beautifully, warm late winter temperatures prompted an early bud break and ultimately one of the earliest harvests on record for Quintessa. The wine opens with a whiff of fresh oak followed by baked dark fruits mingling with chocolate and wild mushroom tones. The palate is exceedingly plush, and will age on the shelf for many comfortable years.

On the nose find red berries, candy, herbs, licorice, black currants, roasted meat, chocolate, "sugar"... Really nice!
The taste is well balanced and youthful with lots of fruit, dark berries, licorice, chocolate, herbs...One of our favorites from the tasting. 100% Grenache from sandy soils. Drinks great now or let it sit for a few years.

Aromatic and wild! Towering over the alpine city of Trento, at some 700+ meters of altitude, are the tiny parcels of vines tended by Matteo Furlani. Matteo is the current custodian of his family plots high in the Dolomites; he is a fourth generation winemaker.

Daniel Bouland is a great producer of old-fashioned Morgon. This cuvée of Morgon, Daniel produces from a single parcel in lieu-dit Bellevue where the soil is schist, and like Côte de Py, has a distinctive mineral quality and above all “class” that comes out more and more with age.

The Trousseau “Sous la Roche” from Arbois-Pupillin is young vines grown on a steep 20-degree southwest facing slope. Limestone on red marl. Entirely hand-harvested and 70% destemmed by hand. No sulfites and only indigenous yeasts used. Aged in 228 liter barriques of 2 to 4 vintages-use for 12 months

Chão Rijo – or “hard soil” in Portuguese – the calcareous-clay soils around the town of Colares, Sintra, west of Lisbon. The wine is fermented with 20% whole clusters in tank, and then raised for a year in 50% used barrels and 50% large old wood vats. The result is a lively, light bodied, earthy wine.
