Chateau Fombrauge99.99Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux66% Merlot, 19% Cab Sauv, 15% Cab Franc

A revelation, this stunning wine has turned out to be even better than I thought. Opaque purple-colored, with gorgeous ripeness and richness, a big, sweet mid-palate, and a seamless finish revealing loads of fruit, chocolate, glycerin, and ripe tannin, this opulently-styled 2000 will have few detractors. It is hard not to be totally seduced by this effort. Bravo!

Jean-Michel Gerin Viognier24.99Collines Rhôdaniennes

This is almost as impressive as Gerin's La Champine Syrah, which is a tremendous achievement as Viognier seems much harder to do well. Hints of crushed stone and struck flint add nuance to the ripe apricot aromas, while the exotic, tropical fruit flavors of mango and pineapple are reined in by a touch of citrus-pith bitterness.

Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault 1er Charmes114.99

A hint of sulfur does not materially detract from the ripe and fresh nose that is comprised by notes of apple, acacia blossom and pear scents. There is a lovely underlying tension to the well-detailed and delicious medium-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the clean, dry and balanced finale.

Bitouzet-Prieur Puligny-Montrachet Les Levrons99.99

Soft reduction does not completely mask the aromas of gun flint, citrus and white orchard fruit aromas. There is good richness to the round and appealingly textured middle weight flavors that possess a lush mouth feel, all wrapped in a balanced, complex and lingering finish that displays a hint of bitter lemon. This opulent effort should also drink well young but age well too

Bitouzet Meursault Clos du Cromin79.99

Toasted hazelnuts, cream, cold butter, Porcini mushrooms, dried white flowers, dried yellow apple, Bosc pear, and wilted lemon blossoms slowly rise from the glass. The wine’s palate offers similarly impressive typicity; it’s a dense layer cake of baked stone fruits, toasted nuts and lime blossom, sitting atop a sturdy foundation of crushed limestone, oyster shells, and luscious cream.
