The first nose is very intense. It opens up on citrus peel: pink grapefruit and lime. Secondary notes of white fruits (pear, and white peach), gooseberry, and white flowers begin to emerge. This wine boast a medley of flavors, including dark berries, plum, spice, and hints of oak, offering a delightful sensory experience.

The palate is salty and granular, textured stone-fruit finding a fleshiness and generosity on the mid-palate, coming to a fine point on the long, poised finish. Very impressive – just a shame that there is so little to go around.

The nose is very precise and expressive, reminding you that this wine was vinified and matured in oak foudres. One of the advantages of a foudre is that it focuses the wine on its terroir, giving it a sense of direction during ageing.

The palate is also precise, elegant and refreshing at the same time, with floral notes enhanced by the sensation of ripe fruit.

The 2022 Bourgogne Chardonnay has a fresh, almond and hazelnut-scented bouquet that opens joyously in the glass. The palate is fresh and mineral-driven, good tension with a lovely chalky, lemon curd-tinged finish that is easily village cru level.

This is definitely worth seeking out!
