Behold Bretta Rosé! A low-alcohol Berliner Weisse style ale, acidified and matured in French oak puncheons for 6 months, is the foundation for this gem. Add 1000 lbs. of fresh raspberries, allow a secondary wild fermentation for 4 more months and voila (!)

Nice pale orange/peach color, nuanced lemony taste with the peaches and apricots providing a round fruitiness. Very enjoyable sour ale. Light to medium body.

This wine is grown almost equidistant between the Rhône Valley to the south and Beaujolais to the north. There is no carbonic maceration here so the fruit is darker, more deep and brambly. There is also a definitive black pepper note on the finish, bringing some Rhône spice to the bright Gamay grape.

Cannonau is one of Sardegna’s leading red varietals, and it is noted for being potent, rustic, and packed with resveratrol, the substance that some researchers say can improve heart health. We think that’s all fine and dandy, but we didn’t buy this wine because we thought it would make us live longer. We bought it because it’s delicious and full of heart, soul, and character.

The monte tondo vineyard can be found nestling in the gentle hills of soave just a few kilometres from verona on a slope overlooking the valley. 32 hectares of vineyards are situated on the best plots that the soave zone can offer: monte tenda, monte foscarino and monte tondo, from which the vineyard takes its name, ensure that the wine produced has an intense perfume.

The nose is deep and intense, offering notes of vanilla, coffee, spices, and ripe red fruit. Aromas of dry leaves, leather and a rich, nutty background are evidence of the bottles aging period. The palate is balanced and silky with an elegant finish. This Gran Reserva has a complex and intense personality that will evolve positively over the coming years.

This is a very effusive, exuberant wine, typical of santa Barbara county syrah. One of those bottles you seem to drink faster than others. In 2014 most of the fruit for this bottling came from the single vineyard Sebastiano. No stem inclusion. Wine, just like food, or music, or art, should have a certain kind of authenticity--it should come from someone and somewhere.
