Coming from the largest organic estate in all of Beaujolais, the La Galoche bottling from Domaine de Bellevue is bright and fresh with lovely fruit notes of dried cherry and macerated cranberry. From 25 year old gamay vines-2/3 aged in concrete, 1/3 aged in used barrel.

The 2013 Syrah Exposition 2 is a perfect wine. This is 50% destemmed and co-fermented with 8% Viognier. Bacon fat, lychee, tapenade, black raspberry and black cherry liqueur soar through the explosive aromatics of this wine. The wine hits the palate with the extraordinary silkiness, fine-grained tannin, massive concentration, but the balance and precision of a ballerina.

This Chenin Blanc was planted in 1984 on pink granite and quartz cobbles, washed down over the millennia from the Sierra Nevada. Spontaneous fermentation in neutral frenck oak, aging on the lees and bottling without fining or filtration has yielded a wine that in truly reflective of the volcanic and alluvial soils from which it was born. Vivid ruby. Vibrant red and dark berry and Asian spice aromas carry a hint of musky earth. Sweet and incisive, offering palate-staining blackberry and boysenberry flavors and a late touch of bitter chocolate. Supple tannins give shape to the mineral-driven, sharply focused finish, which hangs on with excellent tenacity and building sweetness.

Bright violet. High-pitched aromas of raspberry, candied flowers and minerals show a touch of licorice in the background. Juicy and pure, offering very good clarity and lift to the red fruit and lavender pastille flavors. Shows very good focus on the mineral-dominated finish, which is framed by gentle, fine-grained tannins.

Ruby-red. Vibrant black raspberry, cherry and lavender scents, along with suggestions of star anise, smoky minerals and blood orange. Concentrated yet lithe and precise, offering bitter cherry and red and dark berry flavors enlivened by tangy acidity. Silky tannins shape the finish, which lingers with strong, spicy persistence and resonating florality.

Sourced from the Les Charmes vineyard, the highest altitude lieu-dit in the appellation. Granite & schist soils sit on an alluvial fan at the highest point & impart great complexity. Foillard’s succes begins w/ old vines, never using herbicides or pesticides, harvesting late, rigorous sorting & refusing both chaptalization & filtratition. The result is prue natural expression.
