Little Stony Hill is a Napa Valley original, and the house style remains true to founder Fred McCrea's love of Chablis. This delicate style of saignée Champagne is a Roederer specialty; the firm completed a new cellar in 2008 with a sole focus on rosé. What sets Roederer rosé apart is the beautiful freshness of a wine like this 2009. Its color is a light orange gold rather than pink or red. This vineyard has produced wines that possess dramatic personalities. Planted on the climatic edge where the vines barely ripen their fruit, the structure of this grenache is different from what I’ve seen elsewhere.Offers upfront, layered, ripe notes of framboise, Bing cherry and flowers in a medium-bodied, rounded and generous style that has texture and richness.

Aromas of black fruits, dark cherry and plum are interlaced with hints of blackcurrant, chocolate and spice. An old-world earthiness is present on the palate, enhanced with robust flavors of smoke, black olive and blueberry. Subtle tannins and mouthwatering acidity create a rounded mouthfeel and long finish.

The Kruger-Rumpf winery was founded in 1790 and Stefan Rumpf began producing his own, estate wines rather than selling the juice off in bulk, as had been customary. Vineyards are farmed sustainably and care is taken during the hand harvesting to ensure that only optimally ripe grapes are picked, as Georg does not favor any botrytis. The wine is charming, dry and rose-like

The Pinot Noir is deep, dark purple in color with abundant red fruit and dark berry aromas and flavors. The ever-present underlying earthy character compliments its solid tannin structure and long fruity finish.

This is one of my favorite expressions of Croze Hermitage I've tasted in some time. Lean and playful, there's no excess weight or heaviness on the palate. Instead, we're treated to a magnificent display of lavender, violets, black pepper spice and subtle bacon fat. It's a wine with the aromatic intensity cranked up to 10, but the drinkable remains extremely high too. Delicious!

So beautiful. Crushed pepper tart berries rustic and elegant all at once. Cédric picks his fruit by hand and practices a traditional Beaujolais vinification. These are excellent wines: clean and pure, occasionally Burgundy-like on the nose despite the traditional fermentation.
