Domaine Guy Breton was founded in 1935 and has consistently produced 90+ point wines from Morgon with organic farming and an annual production of just 3000 cases.Guy’s Beaujolais Villages “Marylou” is sourced from the St-Joseph and Grand Cras subzones of the appellation, about 500 meters from his Morgon vines. The wine is named after Marylou, Guy Breton’s daughter.

Each grape cluster was hand picked, then destemmed and then pushed down by hand for 14 days. It marries the richness of the new world and the delicateness of the old world. It leads with nice oak aroma well combined with black cherry and cassis on the nose. It’s followed by black cherry on the finish.

A discreet application of wood sets off an earthy array of red and dark currant scents that are trimmed in plenty of floral and soft earth elements. The sleek, vibrant and utterly delicious medium weight flavors exhibit good minerality on the balanced, refreshing and lingering finish that is firm if not quite as structured as the Longeroies. This overtly stony effort is also very good and a wine that should amply reward a decade plus of cellaring.

100% Pinot Noir from 15 year-old vines, grown on a clay limestone terroir. The 2013 is a beauty and has a rare level of concentration and depth in the vintage. Blueberry, crushed flowers, pepper, and violet aromas and flavors flow nicely to a medium to full-bodied, structured and tannic Beaucastel that has impressive purity and plenty of length.

Elegant, expressive and dressed in a green-yellow coloring, this Sauvignon Blanc impresses with its citrus notes of grapefruit and green apple, which mingle in with herbal hints. In mouth, its freshness and balance stand out in particular, along with its citric notes and pleasant mineral ending.

This family winery has existed for over two centuries, and they have clearly learned a thing or two about how to make wonderful, elegant wines from their terroir. A brief duration of skin-contact gives this wine a faint and delicate pink hue and also instills the wine with a gorgeous, silky texture. The wine is then aged in neutral acacia and slovenian oak barrels.
