Heidi took over her family's estate in 1983, so she has had ample time to get to known the vineyards and establish herself as one of the premier Austrian winemakers. The soils at her vineyards in Rust feature a combination of sand and clay with a high level of calcium, giving way. This Pinot Blanc is simply sensational; fresh juicy apple, lemon and lime zest, with hints of hazelnut and salted melon. Perfect with fresh seafood, spicy pad thai, or french-fried potatoes.

The vineyards have chalky clay soils. The Sancerre Rose is a blend of direct press and "saignée" method (bleeding off of a portion of the juice from recently-crushed skins) rosé wine. The juice is produced from macerated Pinot Noir grapes that have not been sorted by hand or de-stemmed. The philosophy of the estate is to let nature take its course as much as possible.

This richly structured wine opens with a aromas of mature black berries, vanilla and black spices. The palate offers black cherry, prune, espresso and black spices alongside bracing, drying tannins. A fine, stylish, succulent, juicy and well balanced example of Chianti Classico, with firm and fine tannins and lively acids. Intensity is well above the mean, and length is solid.

This beautiful, structured wine from Portugal is sure to please. Wonderful red fruit character, followed by darker fruits on the palate, quite earthy with firm tannins makes this wine a pleasure to experience. Goes well with most meats, charcuterie or grilled vegetables. Recently awarded Winery of the Year, this is a must try!

This beautifully blended wine is sure to please! It has deep ruby colour and purple edges. It is spicy with red berry fruits revealing an elegant palate showing youthful fruit and fine tannins with good balancing acidity on the finish.

It is fine and elegant, subtle and dare I say -- feminine. For a comparison, we uncorked a bottle of the 1995, fully developed by now with a deep golden color and a complex nose; it had aromatic herbs that reminded me of absinthe, with something honeyed and a very spicy note of curry. It was very dry and tasty. If the 2010 develops like this 1995, it will be a real treat.
