Hubert & Laurent Lignier, Gevrey Chambertin "Les Seuvrées" 2021Burgundy, FrancePinot Noir

Les Seuvrées sits just below the grand cru Mazoyeres-Chambertin on the slope, bordering the northern edge of Morey-Saint-Denis. The Ligniers own a hectare of very old vines here, planted between 1938 and 1966, and this cuvée displays a darker, more rugged side of the appellation, with meaty depth and intense concentration. Laurent employs approximately 20% new barrels.

Hubert & Laurent Lignier, Gevrey Chambertin "Regnard" 2021Burgundy, FrancePinot Noir

Regnard is a south-facing site in the southern sector of Gevrey-Chambertin, and the Ligniers are in contract to access a parcel of Pinot Noir here between 40 and 70 years of age. This is a fresh, silken wine with intense minerality and marked tension—a wonderful counterpoint to the more somber “Les Seuvrées”—and its modest 20% new oak is all but invisible.

Hubert & Laurent Lignier, Bourgogne Rouge “Grand Chaliot 2022Burgundy, FrancePinot Noir

The Domaine Hubert Lignier has long had a reputation for its fine wines known for their concentration, depth and structure. The “Grand Chaliot” lieu-dit is situated just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The estate owns a prime 0.71ha parcel of 70-year vines that cuts across the “Les Drazey” and “Les Bussieres” vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny, just below the 1er Cru “Les Sentiers”. The finesse of this wine speaks of the Chambolle pedigree, though its ideal location and ancient vines produce a depth that elevates it to a level beyond what one would expect from a Villages.

Georges Lignier, Morey Saint Denis 2018Burgundy, FrancePinot Noir

This Morey-Saint-Denis, from a premier cru vineyard, is a perfect expression of the village terrior: sophisticated and complex, it offers bright red fruit, soft and silky tannins, and just enough of a savory, mineral-tinged accent to make your mouth water.

Lucien Muzard, Meursault "Les Meix Chavaux" 2022Burgundy, FranceChardonnay

From a .75 hectares parcel in Meursault les Meix Chavaux, bordering Auxey-Duresses. Three equal parts were planted in 2001, 1988 and 1935. Given the location near Auxey Duresses, vineyards are cooler and thus allowed to ripen longer on the vine. As a result, it gives the wine good focus, minerality and tension. Classic Meursault aromas of ripe apples, honey, and hazelnuts.

Bitouzet-Prieur, Meursault "Clos du Cromin" 2020Burgundy, FranceChardonnay

Planted in 1951, Bitouzet’s third of a hectare of Chardonnay here yields a more mineral-driven, structurally stricter wine than Les Corbins, yet one which still shows ample flesh despite its youthful reticence, developing with time into a rich, well-balanced wine with a long finish. It spends 16 months in 20% new oak and is bottled after the second winter following harvest.
